PORCUPINE PAINTING

Grippa porcupine painting

return to gallery

This picture, titled "Porkypine" (sic.), from 1999, represents an unusual digression for Grippa, who rarely paints animals other than birds. The work shows the artist's virtuosity in applying the "Pollock" paint-dripping technique to depict a real subject. The species appears to be the Brazilian porcupine (Coendou prehensilis).
