ROAD VS. RIVER

Compare the two views, taken from about the same altitude. The edge of the road is spreading into the forest, as vegetation was cleared away for construction and then dies off either side. On the other hand, forest grows right up to the river margin. This picture was taken over Suriname, in northeast South America.
