Glass cases of mounted insects such as these are sold in large towns in the Amazon. The ecological consequences of collecting so many insects from the wild are unknown, and the specimens offer little educational value, and are scientifically useless, being unlabelled. Although it is illegal to collect and sell, and export these specimens, the laws are poorly enforced.
