Two Malawian stall holders present their display of African carvings. On the ground (center of picture) are several game boards for playing chisolo, also called bao or mancala. (More about chisolo.) A number of different woods are used for African carvings but the most valued is ebony, a black or dark brown wood that comes from a type of acacia tree.
