On the road from Lilongwe to Zomba, Malawi, is a small settlement where the people get a little extra income by selling
vegetables. Here are dozens of carefully stacked ripe tomatoes. These vary in color in a way that is absent from our
supermarket tomatoes. The delicious tomatoes ripen naturally under the African sun. The stall is shaded to
protect the produce. All kinds of vegetables and fruit might be sold in this type of roadside stall. To the right are piles of
potatoes, and to the left are peas in their pods.
