This map by Abraham Ortelius depicts the legendary kingdom of Prester John. Prester John was a semi-mythical king variously depicted as being from Asia and Africa. The map shows this area around present day Ethiopia, to central and western Africa. Note the elaborate artwork to fill areas that were not explored at the time. The map measures 37 x 44 cm.
