| This unusual flower belongs to a type of acacia (Delonix regia), originally from Madagascar. Although their colors are dominated by red, orange and yellow, acacia flowers take a wide range of forms. They may be intricate as in the example above or a globular mass. The seeds of acacias are usually quite large, very hard, and contained in long flattened pods. |
