This satellite image is centered over the country of Zambia (note the added national boundaries) in Central Africa. To the east are the two southernmost Rift Valley lakes, Tanganyika in the top right and Malawi (or Nyasa) below. The dark patch to the west of Lake Tanganyika on the Zambia-Congo border Lake Mweru while the smaller patch to the south (middle right of picture) is Lake Bangweulu. At the bottom center of the picture, on the southern Zambia border is Lake Kariba, the world's largest man-made water body. |
