Perhaps the fattest tree on Earth, with a girth that seems out of proportion to its height, the baobab Adansonia digitata seems an oddity among trees. Africans revere the tree and wildlife use it for everything from food to shelter. Its silver bark and gnarled branches are especially distinctive. A majestic baobab, perhaps a thousand or more years old is a sight to treasure. This one inhabits Liwonde National Park, Malawi. |
